Paris Je T'Aime

The ring was too big for the right finger!

Paris. The City of Love. The City of Lights. The City I got engaged in!
Yep, this little lady is engaged. How exciting right?

I waiver between total euphoria and absolute terror. I'm no fool, I have a great amount of respect for the sanctity of marriage, and as such I know what a huge deal this is!

It's like a crashing wave, a thunderstorm, a bolt of lightning. It's beautiful, it's magical, it's awe-inspiring but you know the force behind it is beyond you, and above you and totally greater than you could ever be.

I am so proud to be marrying the bf. I read this quote the other day (cheesy love quotes time) that said:

"Lovers don't meet somewhere, they're in each other all along"

and I thought it was so fitting for the bf and I. Even all those years ago I knew there was something in him that fit something in me. I didn't know we'd get married, and our love wasn't always easy.As Donkey from Shrek would say, we were like onions, many layers making it hard for us to see each other clearly. But that little seed was there. Little roots spread out between us and intertwined. I knew when one of our first official dates was sitting on his futon watching Ferngully & eating take-out Chinese--this was something special.

And now, many adventures later we are here. He proposed in a quiet courtyard in front of our Paris apartment. He got down on his knee, heart beating wildly ( I know because I felt it when he hugged me) and asked me to marry him so he could love me forever. I said yes, (and what? and omg? and really?) and now we're at this fork in our lives.
And it's so exciting.

99 MILLION Balloons.

It always catches me by surprise.
The remnants of childhood that still lurk within us.
Like the sense of girlish excitement I still get from seeing a big, bright, bouquet of balloons.

Given the terrible weather right now, I wish I could just grab onto the strings like a cowgirl grabbing the reigns and ride the wind (because--dear God it's windy here right now) away from this place.

But that won't happen for a few more weeks. And sadly I wont be traveling on anything so whimsical as a bunch of balloons. No no, I'll do the adult thing. I'll take a plane.

But don't be surprised if you see a little girl (in stature not in spirit) heading down the Champs Elysses followed by a trail of sweet bouncy friends. Only about a dozen or so, I promise.

What do we think of Lauren Conrad's new line? I love the name and this ad!

For my wedding (in the far & distant future) I'd love to release balloons like these with little *best wishes* notes on them as opposed to throwing rice. Gotta get biodegradable balloons & plantable paper! :)

Rug Love. Ikea Who Knew?

When I think of Ikea I think of a lot of things. Swedish Meatballs. Soft serve ice cream Vast expanses filled with basic shapes.
Bright colors & reasonable prices. And of course the random smattering of people's children running the halls.
What I do not think of when I hear the word Ikea, is glamor.
So imagine my surprise when City Sage opened my eyes to the elegant possibilities of an Ikea rug.

It must be fated because I, folks, am in dire need of a rug.
And my color scheme is black and white.
And I operate on a shoestring budget.
Like I said. Kismet.
My current rug, she's on her last leg. She's had a short but busy life making her way from a Homegoods store in Los Angeles up to my apartment in Santa Barbara. She's beautiful, but from the beginning she was a fragile soul.
You see she sheds everywhere. It wasn't just a phase. And for that I hate her.lol
So farewell dear nuisance rug & hello to such wonderfully chic possibilities. . .

O.M.G. Love

I can't really complain about my life. I live in a place where the sun shines 90 percent of the time and the temperature rarely rises above 75 degrees.  I live in a cute little Victorian apt with my awesome boyfriend who makes me steak and corn. What else could a girl ask for? Throw in a couple of bottles of yummy wine a week and a job I'm enjoying and you might just say I'm experiencing a little slice of heaven.

Well I have a nasty secret. I, despite my awesome life, often sucumb to my more vile nature and feel a bit of envy. This envy can come in many forms, whether it be someones shiny car, shiny ring, or shiny new pictures of their whirlwind adventures I often covet other people's shiny things! What can I say, I'm like a little bird I just want to swoop down and grab those shiny things and take them back to my nest.

Instead I take a deep breath. Inhale the salty sea air and remind myself of the ridiculous amount of great things I get to enjoy.  Most importantly I jump online to find my own little snippet of other peoples happiness. Ways I can make their awesomeness my own without being a bungering little happinesss thief. . .

So here is some stuff that I just O.M.G. Love and wish to make my own someday veerry soon
