Seriously, This is Too Much for a Tuesday Morning

Ok big big news. I have received my 2nd (yes that means I now have two) blog award and or shout out! Seriously these things confuse me. Like you pass them along? So if I'm mentioned I pass it along? I don't know and in all honesty, I dont care :) My interpretation is that if you mention me then I'm a winner! Same applies if I mention you! If I'm wrong then sue me, and watch as the judge laughs that you are going to court over a blog award ;) So woot woot & toot-a-loot!  I think you are trying to disprove my theory that Tuesday mornings suck. Thank you Jessica of Adventures of a Wife & Mom. Apparently there are strings attached to this, being that I have to share all my personal information with you.  It's a sacrifice I'm willing to make for such an honor.  If this keeps up and I maintain my tradition of having some bubbly, you will have me drowning in booze! Ah well, I do love to skinny dip.
Cheers to swimming and check out my secrets below, along with 10 blogs that I think rock-the-casbah.

1.  I am fluent in Spanish because I was in an immersion program as a kid.
2.  One of my favorite books is The World According to Garp by John Irving. Its the shiz.
3.  I am not a natural red-head (I know, gasp!) but people continually think I am :)
4.  My dad is from Ireland which makes me automatically capable of obtaining dual citizenship.
5.  I have an abnormally large belly-button. But at least its not an outie. (Sorry outies!)
6.  When I was 11 I really wanted a pixie cut because it was so in (that's right I was cutting edge even then).  Well I got one and looked like a scary boy. Now I have really, really long hair.
7.  I wear way too much black & gray. Sorry, black is so chic!
8.  I once worked at a Vietnamese Karaoke Bar/Restaurant.
9.  I want a Coton de Tulear, badly.
10.  I was a Comparative Literature major and I hate grammar! People seem to find really surprising.

I'm not as cool as Jessica with her gangster rap minivan rides and rendezvous with the stars but I try.
Now for ten blogs I'm loving right now!
1.  Carbon Couture
2.  P.S. I made this
3.  Outsapop
4.  Everything Fabulous
5.  Brunch at Saks
6. The Little Fashion Treasury
7.  Sunday Suppers
and of course the people I gave a previous shout out to such as Daydream Believer, Bits & Baubles, Gorgeous Glam, Miss Makes Alot & Bardot in Blue

Whew I'm tired. Promise to post something a little later that everyone can enjoy, cheers!

Finding Meaning in Words

This morning I was struck by the power of language.
Something we take for granted. We expect that the words we speak are real and exact representations of the tangible things we want to portray and that others automatically understand them.
When I say I'm grieving, people must understand the depths of my despair right?
Of course not. But I forget that.
When the bf says hes frustrated with, but not angry at me. Hard for me to differentiate. :)
I wasn't trying to wake up to some aha moment
I just wanted my iced sugar-free vanilla latte gosh darnitt.
I was talking to the coffee shop folks as I always do in Spanish.
And the girl told me she saw "Alicia en el pais de maravillas" this weekend.
and I said, dear God is that how you translate Alice in Wonderland?
It has so much more meaning that way.
Maybe because I've heard it in English so many times I don't even look for significance in it.
But in Spanish it's so new and fitting to the content of the story for me.
"Alice in the land of wonders"
and actually "pais" the way I'm used to using it means country.
I'm sure many of you who speak multiple languages are confronted by this regularly.
How what is considered an "exact" translation can completely change your outlook on the topic.
Like Eskimos and their words for snow.
Check out some gorgeous interpretations of text and meaning below.
Ah Tuesday mornings before the caffeine sets in.  Always an adventure. Thanks for joining me.

Tuesday Morning Product Indulgence

It's Tuesday.  A day known only for its amazing ability to be worse than a Monday.  The relaxation of the previous weekend has worn off with the buzz of your Monday morning coffee, but you are really no closer to your next day of rest. Wednesday you can comfort yourself that it's halfway over. Thursday and Friday just fly on by. But Tuesday. Blegh.

It's funny in college I had no concept of days or weeks really.  Time was a much more fluid thing. I'm eating breakfast at 2 o'clock on a Wednesday? Totally. I'm sleeping at 11 a.m. on Friday? Of course! And actually there was no sacred Friday as an employed person knows it to be. Thursday night began our weekends. Friday was my extra Saturday.

Now I live a much more structured lifestyle. While the monetary compensation I receive comforts me in this regard, sometimes I do just want to break free!

Instead I bought these candles. I thought I would share them with you in hopes that they might cheer you up this dreary Tuesday morn.

They are actually really cool, they are soy and so they melt at a much cooler temperature. I dipped my finger in the pool as it was burning and its not hot. Also since they are soy apparently you can use the meltings as a moisturizer.

I bought the Vanilla Orange and it was literally like rubbing a creamsicle on my hands. Yum!
Check out SOI candles online and enjoy this worst of days. :)
