T.G.I.F.

It's Friday night,
& I'm feeling right.
Woohoo-!
So last Friday
I told you I had certain flights of fancy.
Were they satisfied?
Yes thankfully.
I went to Wildcat Lounge on Saturday
& danced my pants off with the bf.
Were quite the dancing pair.
Think Romy & Michelle's High School Reunion meets
roller disco funk.
Its the shiz. :)
Hopefully it can be repeated tonight.
I'm feeling funky this Friday.
So it was time for some Funky Tunes.
Hope you enjoy.
Have a great weekend
Spill the wine, take that pearl.

For the Love of a Good Chocolate Croissant

I would do anything.
I would sign on the dotted line &
let the devil take my soul.
For just one more bite
filled with buttery explosions
& sinful chocolate ribbons.
Like the torture of old memories
while once sweet,  turned bitter,
So I suffer
from a longing for their flaky outer crusts
their sweet inner linings.
Long after they are all consumed.

I honestly think I've missed my calling as a writer of food erotica.
And yes, I know, I may have a problem of some sort.

A Little List. . .

I saw this lovely idea on Coeur de La, where I'm always left feeling easy-breezy. Does that sound strange? Caroline is just so talented at highlighting the simple pleasures in life that I so often overlook but love to be reminded of.  The enjoyment of a good meal with even better company, the beauty of farmers market produce & pretty wild flowers & road trips with the one you love. The things that make life great!

Anyway this little exercise she posted was so interesting because its an offbeat way to learn things about people.  Not only that but when you think of your own responses, it's interesting to see how you imagine yourself. Also, I'm a bit overwhelmed with work & this is a welcome distraction.
Happy Thursday, the day that is not as exciting as a Friday, but almost :)

If I was a month, I’d be May.
If I was a day of the week, I’d be Friday.
If I was a time of day, I’d be an evening.
If I was a planet, I’d be Venus.

If I was a sea animal, I’d be a mermaid.(hey, they exist! lol)

If I was a direction, I’d be north.
If I was a piece of furniture, I'd be a chesterfield.
If I was a liquid, I’d be gold. lol

If I was a gemstone, I’d be an opal.

If I was a tree, I’d be a weeping willow.

If I was a tool, I’d be a knife.
If I was a flower, I’d be anenomes.
If I was a kind of weather, I’d be a fall breeze.

If I was a musical instrument, I’d be a piano.
If I was a color, I’d be blush.

If I was an emotion, I’d be passion.
If I was a fruit, I’d be sweet dark cherries.
If I was a sound, I’d be the wind rustling in the trees.

If I was an element, I’d be fire.
If I was a car, I’d be a classic Jaguar.

If I was a food ... I would be garlic.
If I was a place, I’d be a Southern manor.

If I was a material, I’d be silk.
If I was a taste, I’d be savory.
If I was a scent, I’d be vanilla bean & coconuts mixed with sunscreen.
I would love to see all of your responses. . .

Lacrimosa

In college, when I needed to pull an all-nighter to write some 15 page paper I should have been working on all along, I would head over to the computer lab & put on headphones and blast classical music.
Something about it just inspired me to write.
And I could magically produce 15 pages in 6 or so hours.
Call me Baby Einstein.
This Alexander McQueen collection reminds me of that; inexplicably inspirational.
Awe-inducing.
Like a religious relic
that inspired pilgrimages.
Before there were reproduced images
and the only way to appreciate something
was to trek hundreds if not thousands of miles
and see it in person.
God who can imagine that now a days?
Thanks to Vain & Vapid for the Alexander McQueen clothing images

Lucy, I've Got Some Esplaining to doo. . .

I know folks, you come here to read my knowledgeable take on high fashion, my exquisite execution of DIY projects, & my deliciously exotic home cooked meals. Yet sometimes you visit, and you find yourself asking, my dear, wtf has happened to her page?
Well I apologize. For me, half the fun of my blog is changing the look. One person tells me they miss Sandra Suy's illustration header and I say, gosh darn it your right what was I thinking!
So consider yourself at a wtf party when you visit my blog.
For those of you who don't know what this is, a What the Freak? party is a party where you don whatever random conglomeration of things you managed to dig out of your closet.
It is by far the most fun theme party of them all.
Apparently this is what my blog is to me lol.
So I hope you don't mind that you've been invited to this party against your will. :)
Below is a picture of me from a real wtf party.
I hope it leaves you with that entertained yet confused feeling of What the Freak?

I Feel the Earth Move Under My Feet

I feel the sky tumbling down.
I have fallen in love with this gorgeous geode jewelry.
Something about geodes makes me feel like
I can sense the vastness of the universe.
I know. Weird. You're like Rachel, please spare us your strange hippie ramblings.
Don't worry, I will. :)
These are by Jacquie Aiche jewelry & Kimberly McDonald jewelry
Beautiful, but pricey.
Thank god for Etsy who has some paired down versions.

Not bad for a tenth of the price :)
