So Funny, So True.

Do you ever read a blog post and go "omg, it's like you read my mind?"

Well that's how I feel today about this post by Design Crush.
It's a problem I've been struggling with for years, apparently diagnosed as:
Chronic Bitchface. Hahaha. This made my day!

Purchase the print here.

Art for a Petit Bebe

I am not preggo. Not even close! wipes sweat from forehead. Whew, dodged that bullet for the moment.

No I'm not in the family way, I am more in the "constantly stalking 20x200" way.
Despite that fact, I'm sure I'll get a call from my mom in an hour or so say "WHAT, are you PREGNANT?"
She is the type of person who reads the opening line of an article and then gets too excited to finish the rest.

And then I'll have to explain, "no Mom, I was just stalking this site 20x200. . ."
Which will open a can of worms because she won't know what 20x200 is.
There goes the rest of my afternoon.

Anyway I just found these great prints of baby animals by artist Sharon Montrose. I think they would look killer grouped together in a nursery or kids room. I love them because they are by nature sweet and age appropriate for kids but at the same time aren't overly cartoonish or cutesy. Also I love the crisp white background which I think adds to the sophistication of each piece and allows for easy inclusion in any sort of decor scheme.

Bonus for all those "my kid is a genius in training" moms out there the prints can serve an educational purpose to teach kids different animals. Because you know playing them Baby Einstein videos isn't enough.

O.M.G Love Art; Jane Mount's Ideal Bookshelf

She actually hand writes a note to you. LOVE!

So I know I've already mentioned I go every which way for a piece of art that speaks to me.
Imagine my excitement when I found the amazing art series by Jane Mount called The Ideal Bookshelf.(did I mention I was also a Comparative Literature major in college?)

The Ideal Bookshelf chronicles exactly that, your dream world of literary adventures.

From side by side fashion faves to rows and rows of Harry Potter, to classics like Lolita and Don Quixote, her work embraces and exudes the idiosyncrasies of each bibliophile, everywhere.  And if you don't see your bookshelf for sale, she'll make it!

I recently received my personal purchase of a wonderful list of cookbooks and culinary favorites that I am proud to display in my kitchen.

Please check her out. As an art lover and a supporter of the dying art of paper print, Jane Mount is a rockstar goddess to me.

James Victore Art Sale = Be Still Beating My Heart

Go here. Buy now.

So I am an art slut. It's ok, I've come to terms with it. I am a whore for paintbrushes, ink smudges, and people's personal creations that I feel call my name. I might not be knowledgeable enough to sell it, but I am knowledgeable enough to waste all my disposable income on it. Lucky me!

I am also promiscuous in my pursuit of a good deal. I sign up for all the private sale sites and am always searching for a newer, better way to get the fancy stuff I want with the mere pennies I have.

Most recently I signed up for Fab.com a private sale site that specializes in specialty home decor, art. etc.

Holy crap, I think I'm in love. Today they are featuring something I just had to share.

Art Prints by James Victore! One of my favorite graphic designers. I think his work speaks so much to the dualistic role of design to create aesthetically pleasing art, and also communicate a message. Most of James prints for sale on Fab.com are some sort of advertisement designs, from subway ads to wine labels. And yet I would love to hang one in my home.

Sadly I can't afford even the discounted prices being offered. UGH! But please, someone take advantage of this.  Or if you love me (hint hint fiance, friends, family, or the secretly enamored) I do have a wedding coming up, and I hear rumors that people buy you stuff for those things. . .

O.M.G. Love; Caitlin McGauley Illustration

So you all know
that I am a teensy bit obsessed with illustration.
I might compromise my morals
for a good watercolor.
Luckily my morals are lacking to begin with :)
I joke, but seriously
I would sacrifice
someone else's limbs
for one of these sweet Caitlin McGauley illustrations.
Sadly I think I'll be left lusting
because I don't think she has an Etsy shop.
But apparently her work is all over Lonny,
and you can win a painting of hers from them here.
Give me a good watercolor of an espresso machine & a wonderfully decorated interior over a landscape any day.

O.M.G. Love; Jason Hackenwerth

I heart Nylon magazine. Because they turn me on to such cool things!
Like Jason Hackenwerth. And his big, awesome, somewhat unsettling (and sometimes phallic) balloon sculptures.
They are awe inspiring & shudder-inducing (as are many phallic objects)
Lol sorry I'm in a cheeky mood.
The colors are vibrant and the scale is impressive.
A lot of them look like something from a sci-fi horror
or science book sketch. It makes me uncomfortable!
But in the best way possible.
Like a movie that creeps you out
but you can't stop watching.
Did I mention they are balloons? Oh  right, I did.
Did I mention some of them are wearable? No? Well they are.
Which makes them even cooler lol.

Check out his site.
He has prints for sale
for those who aren't so faint of heart. . . .

O.M.G. Love: I Heart Cheese Prints

I am a firm believer
that cheese makes the world a better place
When you eat cheese you aren't thinking
wow, that person really hurt my feelings today.
You are thinking: ooh what is this symphony of flavor happening in my mouth?
and:
how can I make this wonderful thing happen again?
So it is that the cheese continues to find it's way past your lips
until you can't handle any more
and you ultimately collapse upon yourself
having been defeated
by the amazingness of cheese
Am I the only one this happens to?

Dreaming of Degas

There is nothing better than a good Degas.
The muted colors.
The soft shades.
The moodiness.
The flow.
The movement.
Makes me wish my mom had sent me
to those ballet classes
so I could be one of them

A Dancer.
Check out BalletArt on Etsy for the last four images.
Gorgeous no?

O.M.G. Love; Looks Good to Me

Time for a little break from sharing my Napa goodness.
Because, contrary to my current sentiments
there are other great things out there besides Napa Valley & red wine.
Or so I hear.

One of these great things I just discovered is the blog & illustration of Looks Good to Me
As you may know, I am obsessed with great illustration.
Especially anything involving watercolors!
So thanks to a new commenter
I was introduced to my newest art interest.
It's like melting ice cream on a hot summer day.
Love it!

I am just loving Caroline. She illustrates all my favorite things: wine, food  & fashion.
Check her out.

**Oh ps I wanted to share the fact that Aaron Brothers is having a penny sale! I found it out when looking for a photo ledge online & I headed over to our local shop.
Awesome! Buy one frame, get one for a penny.
You cannot beat that, especially when you want to frame some recently purchased prints!**

O.M.G. Love: The Monday Before Vacation Edition

It's Monday morning before my vacation week
and it's all I can think about!
I decided to post some OMFG Art.
Because I love this artist
and her work feels
easy-breezy
like I'm already on vacation
sipping a pina colada some wine
and resting my weary feet.
I love her use of color
& her interior inspirations.
You may have already met her before
via Design Sponge & some other lovelies
who displayed her
Check her out! She has an Etsy too. Stephanie Levy. Love her!

O.M.G. Love, Boots

I love boots. Tall, Short. Chunky or slim.
And I love how this sketch encompasses
their "effortlessly cool" factor.
Thanks Edith Saylor Style for pointing me in the direction of Numerous Drawings

O.M.G. Love; Ann Carrington

I love this artwork by Ann Carrington (linked, check her out!)
This is the perfect example of where craft meets art.
I love her use of different toned buttons to create such stunning work!
and of course it doesnt hurt that these are done in the colors of my apt.
black & silver.
Hmmm, I feel an inspiration project coming on. . . .
